Well Friends, I need help.
I am TRYING to use color
on a PK doily.
Trying being the optimal word.
Here it is:
This pic shows the colors the truest,
though still not accurate.
(Stinky camera!)
The pattern has 2 obvious flowers designed in
though the overall look is that of a Peacock
feathery look. Hence the pattern name:
Peacock Pride
Can you see the petals?
This, of course, is one of the 2 flowers
in the pattern, but when I've tried
to continue onto the second,
I have NOT been pleased with
the blending of my hues.
I even consulted my wonderful decorator
friend, MaryBeth. She didn't like
the combo I had, but she didn't
know what to used instead.
(She's not a threadie.
But she is wonderful!)
I have ripped it out completely once.
I have frogged it partially several times.
I cannot decide on a complimentary color
for the last 2/3 of the doily.
My pinks DO NOT match the pinks I've already used.
ANY IDEAS???
A color besides pink that will blend?
The white in the variegated thread
is off-white, but not beige.
Seems a bit rude to offer an opinion when it is the first time I've been here...anyway...I'm jumping in! To be honest I think the variegated cotton doesn't do the design justice as the pattern of the thread makes it hard to see the petal design. The middle looks fine so if you redid the petals in a coordinating pink/red/black/white/green/aqua in a plain thread and then chose the outer it would show off the pattern more. I will be interested to see what you end up doing. All the best.
ReplyDeleteCarol, thank you for your candor and for commenting. I was beginning to think I'd stumped everyone. I received similar advice from The Shrone over on Ravelry. I will be rethinking the project. Not sure what to do yet. Maybe your bravery will help others igve their 2 cents. :) Hope you will return. God bless.
