Football Field Birthday Cake

For my 2nd son's 16th birthday, I found this really cool cake on Pinterest (of course).  He is the main football fanatic in our family, so this was perfect for him.

Time Passage

My first son is in college this year.  And he has his first real girlfriend.  And he is joining ROTC and the National Guard.  I don't even know how to deal with all that, bewildered.  He is still living at home and trying to figure life out.  It is an adjustment for everyone.

Looking good!

We are PROUD of him!

My second son is a Senior and is driving himself to school this year which is a big load off of me.  And, of course, he is glad to have more freedom!  Again, I'm not too sure I'm ready for this, but ready or not...

His football team, the Purple Dragons, are still in it this year!  They have only lost 1 game all year, and that only by 2 points.  They play tonight, here.  Brrrr!!!  It will be in the mid to upper 20s during the game.  I am going to BUNDLE UP!!!  He better KNOW I love him, that's what!

A Blur

The last 2 years have been jam-packed full of life.  Not even really time to throw pictures up on here.  In 2014, I haven't even crocheted all that much.  But I do have pictures from 2013 that never made it to you, so I will post those in the upcoming posts.  I don't know if I will be any more successful at crocheting and/or posting in 2015.  Only time will tell.

First time I've been officially 'hired' to make booties.

If you can't quite make them out, the white accents below are bunnies.

Sweet little button flaps!

I am wondering about trying to sell some of my creations with the express purpose of using the money to support a ministry.  I am currently praying that over.  If?  and What ministry?  I always have a lot of ideas running around in my head.  Just want to make sure I'm making the best use of my time for the Gospel's sake.

My Current Fave in Bootie Patterns

I made these booties in May for Johnnie, the receptionist at my beloved chiropractor's office. She had twins, a boy and a girl.  I'm so grateful for their ministry to me in health and productive living, as are the other patients, I'm sure.  I wanted to bless Johnnie in return.

Kay Meadors' Bootie Collection, pattern #7 Moccasins.  I alter the pattern a little by making the soles the same color as the accents around the tops of the 'moccasins'.  Many colors look cute, but I do prefer navy or chocolate. Crochet thread size #10; hook size #7.

Mexican Lime Chicken

I haven't blogged for a long time.  I have many crochet pictures if I can ever get the motivation to put them on here!  It will strike one of these days, probably.

But...this blog is about creativity given by the Lord, and I just invented a scrumptious recipe.  So, I'm going to share that instead.  Next time I make it, maybe I will post a picture.

Mexican Lime Chicken
By Lezlie Lindsey

1/2 of ~5lb. chicken, cooked and chopped
1 can (14.5oz) diced tomatoes, undrained
1 large onion, chopped
1/2 medium green pepper, chopped
3 cloves garlic, minced
2T lime juice
2t salt
1/8t black pepper
1/8t red pepper
3c hot cooked rice
cilantro (optional)

Directions:
Pour lime juice and 1t salt over chopped chicken and stir.  Leave in bowl to soak. Saute 1/2 the onion, the green pepper, and the garlic 2-3 min.  Add the remaining onion and saute it just to start it cooking.  Add other tsp. salt, black and red peppers, and tomatoes, stir.  Add chicken/lime/salt mixture, stir.  Heat through, around 5 min.  Serve over hot rice.  Top with fresh cilantro, if desired.

EXQUISITE!!!

6 months? Really?

Well, Blog Friends, I guess you could say I've been a 'little' busy.

I now have a Senior,

a Junior,

and 2 7th graders.

The Junior goes to public school, so that frees up some of my teaching brain cells.  But...he takes a lot more taxi time.  The others are keeping me hopping homeschooling.  I've still been make projects and taking pictures but haven't found time to get them posted on here.

I will post one or two now, but don't know when I'll get back.  After my eldest graduates, I will probably have a little more spare time.  But, for now, real life calls and is definitely more important than blogland.  So, if you hang on through this sporadic year, I might do better.  ;)
