Scallops
by Claudette Sguazzini
Decorative Crochet magazine, pp. 29-31
July 1997 - Number 58
I didn't know this doily was the same
designer as the Good Manners doily
until I was writing out the details for
this post. I crack myself up!
I do seem to gravitate toward
the designs of particular creators.
As my husband would say,
"You like what you like."
I did have a little trouble
getting the scallops to
lay flat. But that may be
due to using different sizes
of thread and hook than
called for in the pattern.

Good Manners
by Claudette Sguazzini
Decorative Crochet magazine, pg. 43
July 1997 - Number 58
I used a size 7 hook and size 10 thread.
When I have time to experiment,
I think it would look good with some
color to highlight the center flower.

Wow! Christmas is getting close!
25 DAYS!!!
As you may recall,
I have been
occasionally
posting pictures
from a
MYSTERY PROJECT.
I stopped for a time because
I can't keep the final product
a secret if I reveal too
much and there was too
much time left.
But now there is not!
So here is a new picture:

Summer Breeze Edging
Closer and closer!
I have the sleeves done
and stitched in and edged.
Now I am working on the edging of the body
of the sweater. I must also 'place' buttonholes
in the second edging row, before finishing
with a final row of picot edging.
So close...

Almost Done!!!
FRIENDS, I HAVE ALMOST
CONQUERED
Summer Breeze!!!
Woohoo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I only have one sleeve to finish
and then the edging.
(I'm rejoicing early to motivate
myself to FINISH!)

WIP - PK Pineapple Song
At least 2/3 of the way finished.
I did have to frog the entire pineapple section when
I was near the end of it. Lack of attention early on.
Patricia Kristoffersen doilies are SO pretty.
One could stop crocheting on one of these at many
different points and have a beautiful work of art.
I love their exquisite intricacies!

Beautiful Birthday Butterfly is FINISHED!
I about gave myself away early when I posted this:
Do you see it in the corner?
I deliberately left this photo out because I had forgotten
to hide the butterfly before the photo shoot:
And here's a close-up:

Bootie/Sweater Set
My nephew, Titus, turned a year old in July.
When he was born, I made him a sweater and
bootie set out of frosty green and black.
It was SO CUTE!!!
I wish these pictures could do it justice,
but the lighting was bad the day I took them.
Better bad pictures than no pictures, I guess.
The booties are the "All Star" pattern from
by Kay Meadors
The sweater is the Victorian Rose Sweater pattern from
designed by Kelly Robinson.
My color choices were
Aunt Lydia's Frosty Green,
Black, and White.
Hook size 7 (1.65mm)
Hook size 7 (1.65mm)
I found the cute little tennis shoe buttons at Wal-Mart.
If I make the pattern for a boy again,
I will edge it in a plainer stitch, like
single crochet (American).
The scallops were a bit much
for a boy, in my opinion.

But CUTE nevertheless!!!

Look what I have!
This morning,
I was so excited to discover a
treasure
I didn't realize I had.
A friend had given me this pattern book
for crochet thread sweaters way back in
March. Good Grief!
I had tucked it away, and I just
'discovered' it again.
AND IT'S GREAT!!!
If you pop over to Amazon,
you can see pictures of the
designs there!
Leisure Arts #3083 Fashion Collection
And, lo and behold,
the designer just happens to be
my friend, Kay Meadors!
When I saw that, after looking through
the 6 wonderful designs, I laughed out loud!
"Of course!" I said to myself.
Now, if I just can find the time...

Beautiful Birthday Butterfly - WIP
Well, as usual, I was not able to finish
a birthday present on time.
This one is for my Precious Mommy.
But...
I'M GETTING SOOOOO CLOSE!
Just one more piece of wing left.
Her favorite color is red.
So I'm using red for the wing accent
with a white/gold variegated combo.
It's turning out quite nicely!
TONS of ends to tuck in,
but I'm almost done with
that part as well!!!
I got the free pattern off of Ravelry.
It's called Delicate Crochet Butterfly.
Working with the 2 colors is somewhat
tedious because you have to switch and tie off
FREQUENTLY.
But I think the outcome will be worth it!
Especially since it is for my Mom and
she's VERY worth ANY amount of trouble!

Mock Converse
I love these little mock converse tennis shoes
These have to be my favorite bootie pattern.
(Another Kay Meadors creation.)
I've made them for several fresh babies.
Here they are in Sage and Black:
These were for my nephew, Titus.
Many oooohhhhsss and aaaaahhhhhhs
in my heart over these!!!

Sweet Booties for Ella
Well, Friends, there is another fresh baby
at church and I'm so glad I had a pair
of booties stashed away, because
teaching school hasn't left any
time to create new ones.
I try to make up several pairs
when I am having a
unusually slow time.
And my stash is just about
GONE.
Here are the sweet booties:

Adventurous Oval - FINISHED!!!
HOORAY, HOORAY, HOORAY!
I've completed my PK Oval
and it's SO pretty.
I LOVE IT!!!
It even looks beautiful from the BACK!
Happy, happy! Giddy!!!
Dance, skip, hop!
(Yes, I'm excited.)
This doily is from my marvelous
Patricia Kristoffersen book,
Absolutely Gorgeous Doilies.
All the doilies in the book
are done in white only.
My color choices were
white, variegated, delft blue, and yellow threads
and a size 7 hook.
My other 2 posts on this doily were:

Ava's Outfit
I apologize in advance for the poor picture quality,
but I did want to show you this sweet set
I made for my niece, Ava.
I love the flower motifs designed into this set.
I also love the ruffle effect.
I haven't had much in the way
of ruffles, ribbons, or girly frills,
as you may imagine, since
I was blessed with 4 boys.
But I sure enjoy making sweet
things for other people's girls!
